Cebu City: On Its Way to Becoming a "City of Coders"
In 2018, CodersGuild.NET and the Cebu IT BPM.Organization (CIB.O) partnered up to bring the Computer Science Education Program (CSEP) to five (5) school in Cebu City, through a series of coding training. A total of 30 teachers successfully completed the program and are now leading the coding training in their respective schools.
The teachers were trained for CSEP to become sustainable and equip them with the latest coding skills that they can use to encourage their students to learn more about coding as early as possible. According to CIB.O Managing Director Wilfredo Sa-a Jr, there are more than 500 high school students this current school year who already benefited from the coding training.
Recently, Apas National High School, one of the pioneering coding schools held its first coding competition among their Grade 11 students. The competition utilized the coding techniques that their teachers learned during the training. Also, they already completed delivering all the basic coding training from June to September 2019.
CIB.O is continuously working with the schools to deliver the coding training in their respective schools for three (3) semesters.
